L4 - Apennines

This is the northern two-thirds of the Apennines mountain range that forms the south-eastern 'shore' of Mare Imbrium to the left. Mons Huygens is the highest point on this range and stands at 5,400 m (16,400 ft) high. Apollo 15 landed very close to this mountain range on July 30th, 1971.

This image was taken on 26-May-2004 through a 203mm Celestron C-8 Schmidt-Cassegrain reflector with f/6.3 focal reducer afocally coupled to an Olympus C-700 digital camera through a 40mm eyepiece.
